Recently I watched a vlog where the lovely person addressing the camera referred to a certain meal as unfit, or otherwise survival food only. That is the nice way of putting it. Now, I did unsubscribe briefly. I unsubscribed as soon as I began to hear the ringing in my ears. The room went silent except for the drone of a high pitched tone and I walked away from my phone, which I had left on an upper shelf of a cabinet in my bathroom.
Deep breath.
I came back and said what a lovely person they are. I resubscribed when the ringing stopped. Just because we have different life experiences and opinions doesn’t mean that I can’t hear them out.
However.
I do remember syrup sandwiches, as well as a thin slice of butter that I’d slice from time to time because it was salty and good. I had never experienced that ringing in my ears before, and I haven’t since, not like that. I was so upset, and so quickly. It is the only time in my life that I can recall being “triggered” by the actual sense of the word.
Recently I became familiar with a whole new “struggle snack”. It’s Cheerio’s with a tablespoon of peanut butter in the middle and fruit cocktail instead of milk. It tastes like cereal cake. Definitely what I imagine dog treats taste like. It’s not bad, even addictive. You can trade whatever ingredients for something else if you can’t have it. Use whatever you have, whipped cream, jelly, syrup, just make sure something sweet is in the middle, and add canned fruit if you can have canned fruit.
I’m sure I’m not the first to try this but here you go, from me to you, something else you can try.
