Validate My Bias
As I listen to The Office of Compline and their mantra-esque chants, I consider forgiveness even though the ulcer in my stomach is threatening me at the thought. My heart is racing but I am at peace. The hot-sauce I’ve been drinking while trying to complete my work is not helping, yet somehow I am calm listening to this service. Everything has fallen apart but something of a higher magnitude has clicked together. I should be floundering in this mess I’ve made, but somehow I ride the waves. I am a bird-brained creative who is doing blog instead of work. But work is blog, no? No. Work is not blog. A deep breath is something I am grateful for, and the Compline Choir goes on. They saying the things I need to do. It’s not easy to hear the wisdom when I am USED TO SEARCHING FOR WHATEVER I WANT TO HEAR TO VALIDATE MY BIASES! The choir does not validate my bias. They sing a prayer, and it is better than the thoughts in my head, I decide. I decide that they are right. Amen.
